Solar System Types

Grid Power Backup Systems

These systems use batteries to store power from the Eskom or Municipal grid, which is then used to run appliances during load shedding. No solar panels are needed in such a system.

Grid-tied Systems

Grid-tied systems have solar panels which generate electricity during the day. This electricity can be used meet part of your energy needs during the day,  thereby reducing your energy bills. Excess power is then stored in the batteries and used a night. The power from the Eskom or Municipal grid is used to supplement the energy from the sun, especially during the night.

Off-grid Systems

Off-grid systems rely only on the solar panels to charge the batteries. They generate enough energy for use during the day, and also store enough energy in the batteries for use during the night. They are not connected in any way to the Eskom or Municipal grid.

Smart Solar Systems

Smart solar systems are connected and integrated with the internet. This enables them to be monitored and controlled from computers and mobile phones.
